Innovative Sign Systems (ISS) is a licensed sign fabrication and installation contractor based in Vista, California, serving environmental graphic design firms and architecture studios throughout Southern California. We fabricate and install complex signage systems from designer-supplied drawings — including wayfinding programs, illuminated exterior identity signs, ADA room identification systems, and dimensional environmental graphics.
ISS holds a California C-45 Electrical Sign Contractor license (#1068491) and operates as a UL-48 Listed sign shop. We pull our own permits, coordinate directly with general contractors and building departments, and do not require design input from our clients. If you supply shop drawings and specifications, we execute them.

The working model is straightforward: the design firm owns the client and the design; ISS owns fabrication and installation. ISS does not solicit the end client, does not offer design services, and does not sub-brand its work without the design firm’s consent.
Most engagements begin with a drawing set or specification package. ISS reviews it, confirms material and fabrication feasibility, provides a fabrication and installation quote, and proceeds on approval. Turnaround on quotes is typically 3–5 business days for standard systems. Complex or large multi-sign programs may require additional time for engineering review.
Frequently Asked Questions From Design Firms
Does ISS work from Illustrator or AutoCAD files?
Yes. ISS accepts vector files (AI, EPS, PDF) and AutoCAD drawings (DWG, DXF). For illuminated sign fabrication, we also work from architectural drawing sets referencing sign type schedules.
Can ISS match a custom color specification?
Yes. ISS matches Pantone, RAL, and Matthews Paint colors. For vinyl, we match 3M and Avery color libraries. Physical sample, drawdown or approval is available on request before production begins.
Does ISS pull its own permits?
Yes. ISS holds a California C-45 Electrical Sign Contractor license and manages the permit process directly with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Design firms and GCs do not need to manage sign permit coordination separately.
Does ISS do ADA signage?
Yes. ISS fabricates ADA-compliant tactile and Braille room identification signage meeting California Title 24 and federal ADA Standards for Accessible Design. ISS produces Grade 2 Braille and domed characters using UV inkjet processes with compliant raster dot geometry
What is ISS’s service area for installation?
ISS installs throughout San Diego County, Orange County, Riverside County, and Los Angeles County. For wholesale fabrication-only projects, ISS ships to sign companies and installers throughout the Western United States.
Is ISS available for wholesale fabrication without installation?
Yes. ISS operates a wholesale fabrication division serving other sign companies and contractors who need fabrication capacity. Wholesale clients receive fabricated sign components without ISS branding.
